I want to get a broad band card for my laptop.Dont want to pay for to much service. Is there a way to w/ a PC?

Is there an expansion for the PC to use broadband cards?

You can buy a PCMCIA LAN card for your notebook. It might also be called a NIC (network interface card), network adapter, notebook LAN card, notebook card or a notebook expansion card.

Ask for a PCMCIA LAN card, any computer retailer will know what you want. It connects the notebook to a router or modem via a standard ethernet cable. Current standards are cat5e or cat6.

The card is very easy to install, although there are some safety issues to watch out for. These will be listed in a booklet inside the card package. Read it before installing. The main safety issue is removing the card without stopping it in Windows first (or turning off the notebook). Just pulling it out will damage the card.

You could also use an external USB interface card but this is slower than an ethernet connection.

There are other connection methods but I would stick with the PCMCIA card. There is also a wireless version if you prefer.
